Locally Landing Pages: Setup

Locally Landing Pages spotlight select stores on a fully-hosted subdomain. Store Pages launch from your Store Locator, and posses dedicated URLs for use in direct marketing. 

Your Store Pages will ultimately be hosted at https://stores.yourcompany.com.

Step 1: Subdomain Setup

Site Replication

Locally starts the process by creating a full HTML replication of your site decorators (header/footer) or by plugging in a "dynamic" header/footer. These replicas are as close to your site as is reasonably possible. We will omit complex drop-down navigation elements, frequently changing content, and country-specific indicators. 

  • If you are able to provide a live, “Dynamic Header/Footer,” let us know at project start if you can provide it in this format. We will review and see if it is suitable for our purposes.

  • If you are able to provide a site Style Guide, this is helpful.

Staging Subdomain

Once the decorators are available, Locally will stand up an initial subdomain staging site at the following address: https://yourcompany.lcly.co. This site will not be indexable by search engines. This link becomes https://stores.yourcompany.com when you launch. 

We will make this link available for your team, which will commence the next step: adding content to your pages and prepping them for go-live. 

Step 2: Adding Content to your Store Pages

Once your staging subdomain site is ready, your team will work with your Locally onboarding team to add content to your pages.

While much of the core store information is provided in the dealer list you provide to launch your Store Locator, all Store and Store Page information is manageable by you and your team through your locally.com account. 

This table breaks down what Locally can assist with via bulk uploads, and what you manage yourself through your locally.com account. 

Adding and Enhancing Core Store Information

Each Store Page contains a variety of store location information: 

  • Store name

  • Address

  • Phone

  • Hours of Operation

  • Storefront Image

  • Links to store-specific social media (includes a live Facebook widget embed)

Typically, the store name, address, and phone, are loaded in with your dealer list to setup your Store Locator. This information is accessible and editable in your locally.com account. 

  • Hours of Operation: this can be added by editing each store’s hours in your locally.com account. If you have too many locations to add manually, we can bulk-upload your store hours. 
  • Storefront Image: each store can override the default logo swatch and feature a picture of their store on their Store Page. This is added at the store-level in your locally.com account. Load Your Locations > Select a store > click the "Appearance Tab" and upload an image in the "Storefront Image" field. 
  • Social Media: each store can add their store-specific social channels. This is added at the store-level in your locally.com account. Each store’s Facebook Page feed is highlighted in a standalone widget. If a store does not have a store-specific channel for a given social media, it links to the main company channel (if available).

“Store Feature” Blocks

Our “Store Feature” blocks let stores post content via an easy-to-use CMS, from your locally.com account. Store Features can be permanent, or can be added and removed on an ongoing basis to feature ongoing promotions, in-store offerings, and more.

Here are a few examples: https://stores.arcteryx.com/vancouver, https://stores.danner.com/union-way, http://stores.salomon.com/north-york-brand-store, https://stores.newbalance.com/london.

While Store Feature blocks can be added at any time, most brands/retailers prefer to pre-populate Store Pages with at least one Store Feature for every store during the onboarding process. Then, corporate staff or store-level staff can enhance their Pages with more detail as they desire once they’re live. This roll-out can vary and may be coordinated with your Locally on-boarding team.

Option 1: Add custom Store Feature blocks for each store prior to launch

Easily add custom Store Feature blocks that are tailored to each store via your locally.com account. Our CMS makes it easy to quickly add copy and imagery. 

If you’d like to add custom Store Feature blocks but have too many stores to do it manually, Locally can provide you with a template to complete for a bulk upload by request.  

Option 2: Add standard Store Features that apply to all stores

Another option is to build a standard Store Feature block using generic language that is added to all store pages. You can add these yourself via your locally.com account, or Locally can perform a bulk upload. 

Once live, you can leave your blocks in place, or you can encourage corporate or store-level staff to customize their language for stores. 

Inventory

Locally’s Store Pages take the guesswork out of shopping at your stores by prominently featuring each store’s real-time product availability, as well as the (optional) ability to reserve or pay for items for in-store pickup. 

To activate this, you’ll work with your on-boarding team to activate feeds for each location. 

Store Reviews

Locally offers a native Store Review feature that will let visitors leave reviews for each location. This is powered by PowerReviews. This is an optional feature.

If you use a third party to track and aggregate store reviews for your locations, such as irevu.com, Locally can incorporate your store reviews, provided that your vendor is able to provide Locally with an embed code for each location. 

Events

Stores can feature upcoming events using Locally’s event display. Events are created within your locally.com account, via a simple CMS. 

Store Page URLs

You can override Locally’s Store Page URLs with your prefer naming convention. For example: https://stores.yourbrand.com/city-brand-store. If you have a preferred naming convention, let us know.  

Design Review

During the subdomain setup process, Locally will generally mimic your site’s aesthetic, getting as close to your site styles as is reasonably possible. We may request fonts and style documents at that time. 

During the content adding process, please notify Locally of any design change requests, and we will accommodate as much as is reasonably possible. 

Step 3: Going Live (Technical Activation)

If your brand does not have an existing https://stores.yourbrand.com subdomain:

If Locally’s Landing Pages will be the first subdomain existing at this address, you can setup your subdomain at any time during the onboarding process. 

  1. Locally will purchase an SSL certificate for your subdomain. To do this, we need to know to which email address to send the domain authorization. Please let us know. It must be one of the following email addresses: admin@yourbrand.com, administrator@yourbrand.com, hostmaster@yourbrand.com, webmaster@yourbrand.com, or postmaster@yourbrand.com

  2. Next, create a new subdomain for your site: stores.yourbrand.com. Once the SSL certificate is in place, Locally will provide you with CNAME redirect instructions.

Completing Step 2 will make your subdomain “go live,” but Locally will prevent search engine indexing until your official launch date, keeping your subdomain effectively private until that switch is flipped. 

If Locally is taking over an existing https://stores.yourbrand.com subdomain: 

If Locally is replacing existing Store Pages at a pre-existing stores.yourbrand.com subdomain, we’ll coordinate your switchover closely.

  1. Locally will purchase an SSL certificate for your subdomain. To do this, we need to know to which email address to send the domain authorization. Please let us know. It must be one of the following email addresses: admin@yourbrand.com, administrator@yourbrand.com, hostmaster@yourbrand.com, webmaster@yourbrand.com, or postmaster@yourbrand.com

  2. Locally will spider your existing subdomain. In doing so, we will capture your existing Store Page URLs and write your new Store Pages to mimic these URLs (unless you’ve indicated that you are using this as an opportunity to change your URL naming convention). We will also setup 301 redirects to ensure the hand-off is seamless. 

  3. When Locally and your team complete the content and design review process, your subdomain is ready to be redirected. Locally will provide you an IP address. In close coordination on a pre-planned day and time, you’ll need to change the DNS A record for your subdomain to the provided IP address. Locally will simultaneously update our own DNS, pushing your new Locally-powered subdomain live.  

Tracking

You can add your Google Analytics ID to your Locally Landing Pages so traffic moving through the stores.yourbrand.com subdomain is visible in your GA portal. To do this, provide locally with your GA ID and we will add it for you.
