Using UTM Codes to track shopper engagements

Many brands run ad campaigns to direct shoppers to their site and want to track if the shopper ended up placing an order through Locally’s tools as a “Buy It Locally” sale. One way of accomplishing this is by adding a UTM parameter to your ad campaigns’ URLs.

If a shopper tagged with a UTM code engages with a Locally tool, Locally will detect it and associate the UTM with all of that user’s engagements, including any Buy It Locally order that shopper places.

To any resulting orders associated with a UTM tag, head to your Order History panel, export a group of orders, and view the file columns named “UTM Campaign”, “UTM Medium”, and “UTM Source” which will report the parameters that were present during that shopper's session.

For clients looking to track the entire shopper journey associated with a given UTM, contact your Client Success Manager or [email protected] for more information on our advanced shopper engagement data options.
